How to Be a Nice Parking Valet
Usually a parking valet will not speak any greetings unless greeted directly by those who have just exited the car. Instead he will act quick and professional, doing his job in an efficient manner. The owner of the car will hand his key over and head inside after (hopefully) giving a tip. The job of the parking valet will be to drive the car around to the parking area and safely put the car in an open space. Usually the valet will double- or even triple-park the cars, due to the fact that he will be able to move them if necessary when it is time to leave.
The parking valet might leave the keys in the cars, or keep them on a rack somewhere in the parking area. This varies from place to place, but he will always keep the keys well organized so he can quickly find which keys go to which cars at a moments notice. Once all the cars are parked and no more visitors are arriving, he just has to wait for people to start leaving. During this time, some valets will clean cars, washing windows and even doing detailing.
Once people start to leave, the parking valet will have to get started with phase two of the night, which is retrieving cars. Usually he will be parked in a way that he can quickly access any of the cars, so when the need arises to access a particular one he can have it in a matter of minutes. Punctuality is very important for parking valets, and will most likely lead to a more generous tip. Just remember that if you ever decide to turn to a life as a parking valet.
