Journaling
For many individuals, journaling is a very personal way of expressing true feelings. It can be a type of therapy for the heart and soul that you just won't get anywhere else. It allows you to write whatever comes to your mind without thinking about how others are going to perceive you or the situation.
Later in life when you go back over your journal entries, you may experience those feelings again. Some people only journal when they are stressed or sad so they don't wish to read the material again. Others only write in journal when they are happy or they write down what they remember from their dreams so they can try to interpret them.
There are people that make it a habit to write in their journal every single day. Most of the time this information will forever stay private. However, there have been some significant journals throughout history that have given us knowledge. Some journals reflect on the life of a slave. The Diary of Anne Frank shows us the details of this young girl's life before and during her struggle to hide from the Germany soldiers.
Giving someone a journal can be a very nice gift. It means you care about them and their feelings so you are giving them a way to express their feelings. Even young children can journal about their day and their feelings. Some people even type their journal online which tells you just how much we have come to depend on your computers in this day and age.
When it comes to journaling, don't analyze what you are writing down. Instead, let your feelings flow freely. If you are thinking but not wanting to write, you can draw pictures or doodle in the margins. This may motivate you to write more from your heart and soul. A journal is a true reflection of your thoughts, fears, strengths, and curiosities. You should be very proud of them as they are a part of who you are.
