Snack Foods
Basically, there is such a wide variety of snack foods out there that it is possible to find something for every occasion. In fact, there is something for every taste as well. When most of us think of snack foods we often picture bags of chips and mixed nuts. But that isn’t the only kind that is out there. Other things that can be snack foods include cheese and crackers, vegetables and dip, and even homemade snack foods. Basically if it is a food that can be eaten for a snack it can be considered snack food.
A lot of the snack foods that are available are pretty high in fat and lack nutritional value. But that does not need to be the case. There are some healthy snack food choices out there. Low fat potato chips, air popped popcorn, and roasted nuts are all relatively healthy snacks. You can also snack on vegetables, rice cakes, whole wheat pita bread with hummus, and healthy grains in order to eat healthy snack foods. There are a lot of great options.
When you shop for snack foods it helps to understand what is out there. This is especially important if you are hosting a party that has a particular theme. In general, it is a good idea to stick with a theme when having a party. For example, if you have a Mexican themed party you can serve plantain chips with a sweet dip, guacamole, and nachos and salsa. If you are having a Mediterranean themed party you can serve pita chips with hummus and other Mediterranean inspired treats. Basically, even if you work within a particular theme, there are still endless possibilities. Just keep them in mind while you are shopping for your party foods.
