Freelance Design
There are several things to keep in mind if you want to get into freelance design work. First of all, setting up a business can be hard work. Not only do you need to be good at the work you want to do, but you need to learn how to run your business. This means that you will need to file your own taxes, track your mileage, earning, and expenses, and in general look for clients who will want you to complete design work for them. Even though this seems like it would be simple, it can be tough. It takes time to find clients and convince them to have you work for them. However, once your business gets going, you can make a really good living at it.
That is why a lot of people end up keeping their full time job while building their freelance design business on the side. This can work for a variety of different people. First, if you already work as a graphic designer, you could do freelance work after hours for companies that are not in competition with the place you work for. In other words, you wouldn’t want to violate your contract with your employer. Or, you can make a complete career change and become a designer, even though your “day job” is something completely different.
If you want to get into freelance design, remember that it can be a challenge to set things up. But once you do, you will find more than enough clients to help you make a really good salary.
