The ability to join a fraternity isn’t one that every male gets to experience. There are often hundreds of applications for each spot in a fraternity. The applications are reviewed to find out what each person has to offer to the fraternity. A combination of academics, leadership skills, and extracurricular activities are all part of the evaluation.
The top applications may be asked to come to the fraternity for a serious of interviews, tests, and evaluations. Those that pass the initial trials may be asked to pledge to the fraternity. These types of trials are very competitive and some of them are downright humiliating. Still, many males are willing to do whatever it takes in order to successfully join a fraternity.
It is very important that a person looks into the background of a fraternity before they decide to pledge to it. Find out what types of community can college events that it supports. You definitely don’t want to find yourself a part of a fraternity that your personal beliefs don’t follow along with. This can make bonding with the other members very difficult for you.
With common problems such as excessive drinking and hazing taking place in fraternities, you have to set your own boundaries. Joining a fraternity definitely isn’t worth losing your own sense of self worth. If you aren’t willing to follow the guidelines of the fraternity then it may not be right for you.
For many college students, joining a fraternity is a very rewarding experience. The love being part of such an organization. They serve with pride and take leadership roles in the organization to help inspire others. They also work hard to change the stereotypical views many people in society of have fraternities.
