The Gospel Music Association
The number of people belonging to the Gospel Music Association is just over 4,000 which includes the artists that make the music, their managers, record companies, and radio stations. Each of these members plays a vital role in the future of the Gospel Music Association. They are the eyes and the ears of the industry and it is due to their hard work and dedication that various issues relating to Christian music are brought to the forefront and addressed.
Each year the Gospel Music Association hosts the Dove Awards which is a program to honor the top artists in various categories of Christian music. This is a spectacular event with a long list of excellent performers. Since these programs aren’t televised those following Christian music will need to read magazines or search the internet for the information pertaining to nominees and winners.
They also have a Hall of Fame for those Christian music performers and songwriters that have significantly influenced this type of music in society. The ceremony involves a dinner and performances by all of the inductees for that year. Speeches are made to talk about the benefits they have offered in the areas of Christian music.
The Hall of Fame for the Gospel Music Association has been in place since 1971. Only a handful of inductees are chosen each year. You may be surprised at some of the names on the list including Elvis Presley. Some people you would expect to find on the list including the very popular Christian musician Amy Grant and the Oak Ridge Boys.
In order to get the public more contact with the various Christian artists, the Gospel Music Association sponsors an annual week long event in Nashville, Tennessee. There are plenty of concerts as well as the chance to meet the actual artists.
