Organic Dairy
Living a healthy lifestyle is filled with multiple factors. This includes eating a proper diet and exercising. Organic dairy, organic fruits and vegetables, and other organic foods are also part of this equation. Besides being free from harmful pesticides, organic dairy and other organic properties are also higher in certain nutrients. For example, tomatoes that are organic are higher in lycopene than tomatoes that were grown using pesticides.
Organic dairy comes from cows that were fed an organic diet. This means that everything that the cow, goal, or sheep was fed did not have any pesticides on it. Recently, the United States standardized their requirements on what was considered organic. So the organic dairy farms in the United States have to follow the rules and maintain certain standards. If they do not adopt these standards, they will not be able to call their products organic.
If you want to purchase organic dairy, you have a few choices. First, understand that organic dairy is often more expensive. But a lot of people justify the extra expense because they feel as if they are getting a higher quality product. Most larger supermarkets and some smaller markets carry organic products. Health stores are also a good place to find organic dairy. You may also want to find a farm that has organic dairy and buy your products from them. Supporting the local farmer is a good thing because it helps improve the local economy and helps keep the farmer in business. Plus, you may be able to find organic dairy for a lot less money that way. Also, organic dairy farms that are in your local area may also have some other unique products such as local, organic cheese.
