Playing God
Many religious groups are opposed to cloning because they are angered that some people believe they have the right to play God. In their eyes only God gets to decide which humans and animals walk the Earth. When cloning is involved someone else is making those decisions. They also refer to many references in the Bible that clearly guard against concepts relating to cloning.
Yet many researchers argue that if God didn’t want them to use cloning to make the world a better place He would have never let them discover it. There are plenty of scientists who don’t believe in the concept of God creating the Earth. They have a completely different view on cloning than many others in society do. This can be a scary concept though as many people get the visual of a mad scientist out of control with cloning at their fingertips in the lab.
There are many positive ideas behind the concepts of cloning that people have been working on. The most important one is that it could offer a way for many extinct species of animals to re-populate. There are also ideas in the works to clone vital organs so that so many people aren’t sick and dying because their name hasn’t made it to the top of the organ donor list yet.
While many different concepts of cloning continue to take place, at least 90% of them aren’t successful. They information that has been gathered from the animals that have been cloned isn’t sufficient for researchers to make credible statements about. Even though the issue of cloning being against the rights of God, it will continue taking place and moving forward. The results we will see from cloning in the future remain a mystery.
