Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. In order to make sure it absorbs properly you need to make sure you drink it with water. The ideal dosage amount varies from person to person but most people just get all the vitamin C they need from their multi vitamin. If you are sick, going through surgery, or have a suppressed immune system, taking larger doses of this vitamin can help.
Vitamin C is also a vital antioxidant. What this means is that the vitamin either prevents the cells in your body from oxidizing and it also prevents cancer. The vitamin binds to the unwanted particle and flushes it out of your body. But if the vitamin is never absorbed in your blood stream because of lack of water or poor diet, then you won’t reap the benefits.
To make sure you are getting enough vitamin C a great place to start is to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. In addition to citrus fruits, this vitamin is found in broccoli, strawberries and plenty of other foods. During winter when fresh fruits and vegetables are not in abundance, it is probably fine to eat the frozen version of the food. Though, as a warning, this may affect the vitamin C content. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, it is good for the skin and connective tissue, great for the immune system and helps prevent cancer, colds and surgery. It is also a good after surgery thing to take to help you recover from the procedure quicker.
