Calligraphy Pens
Calligraphy has been a very popular method of writing in a beautiful and artistic manner that looks extremely pleasing to the eyes of the viewers. It mostly uses angled strokes in the writing that gives it a unique look unmatched by any other form of writing. Different people have a different way of writing calligraphy and they adapted varying techniques in achieving the desired results. Some experimented with inks and some with the pens and nibs that are used in this style of writing.
Different types of pens have been used in calligraphy. The pens commonly had either steel nibs or plastic nibs. There have been other types of nibs as well but the steel and plastic nibs were preferred over the others. Some of the available pens may have a built-in ink reservoir while some do not have a built in reservoir. In the east, there are still some pens that are made from a specific type of wood and the nib is usually a broad one and is also given a short cut in order to get the angled writing style. There are however pens available which are pointed and made of different materials other than wood.
Felt pens are also being used for calligraphy and they can also be found in a wide range of colors. The advantage with felt pens is that you do not have to bother with changing inks and nibs. A calligraphers can simply pick up a pen and put their thoughts on a piece of paper. However there have been concerns about the felt pen’s ink fading out after a while due to which the steel tipped pen still occupies the top position on the preference list of many calligraphers. Calligraphers who have trained using the traditional pen and ink pot find it extremely uncomfortable to switch to modern ways of calligraphy writing. They also believe that the true beauty of calligraphy can only be brought out using the age old pen and ink method.
However as the time passes, more improvements in the calligraphy pens can be expected while still retaining the essence of the art and there can be a number of products which may satisfy the needs of calligraphers in delivering good quality writing and art.
