Air transportation consists of commercial or private airplane. Rail transportation can be a streetcar, light rail, train, or tram. Water transportation consists of a ferry, hovercraft, or water taxi.

As with all transportation rates are also based on fuel costs and can include a fuel surcharge. There are also the self drive vehicles for hire such as rental cars and motor homes.

These vehicles for hire are usually used by those traveling to other cities. The rental cars can be convenient because a person can come and go whenever they are ready and do not have to wait for a driver. The motor homes are typically used by those traveling with family or those retired who want to experience travel by land to see the countryside. This form of vehicle is also convenient as there are many amenities that come with it.

A motor home is just like home. The motor home can come as big or as small as you want. This vehicle can have a bathroom facility, kitchen and sleeping quarters. Another vehicle for hire that is self driven can be a commercial truck or van. These vehicles are mostly used for moving purposes.

These vehicles just like passenger cars and motor homes can be rented by the hour or by the day or some can be leased on a short or long term basis. For example on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis. Self driven vehicles that are leased can base the rate primarily on mileage and vehicle type such as small, midsized or luxury. There is also a consideration of whether the vehicle will be used on the weekday or weekend.
