Budgeting with Coupons
In the olden days, your grandparents or maybe even your parents clipped coupons from the newspaper or the local grocery store circular. While this is still an option these days, budgeting with coupons has become even easier for the current generation because of the ease of finding coupons on the Internet. Often all you need is an Internet connection and a working printer and you can save countless dollars each month just by cashing in on coupons you can find online.
The trick is to focus on things you would buy anyway. Sure it is okay to switch brands if you find a coupon for one and not the other, but it doesn't really make sense to buy two pairs of shoes to get one free if you didn't really need any shoes in the first place. That can be the evil part about coupons, if they make you spend money you wouldn't have spent without them. The trick to budgeting with coupons is to use them to buy things you were going to buy anyway, just with massive savings.
Another thing to keep in mind is that many grocery stores have certain days of the week or of the month when they honor double coupons. This could save you a substantial percentage off of your regular grocery bill. How can they do this you ask and still stay in business? The secret is that they usually just honor manufacturers' coupons. That means that they get reimbursed from the manufacturer of the product for the face value of the coupon and come up with the other half out of their own pocket. They still make a profit this way though because they get more business than they would have gotten if they hadn't offered double coupon day.
If you are still skeptical, you need only give it a try to see how powerful and money-saving budgeting with coupons can be. It is like free money sitting around if there is a coupon for a product you are going to pay full price for anyway. Give it a try and see for yourself!
