Christmas Bells
One of the most familiar types of Christmas bells has to do with local charities. As you approach many retailers you will see someone out there ringing a bell. This is to remind us of the less fortunate people out there. The money that is donated is used to buy presents for children that would otherwise end up with nothing under the tree on Christmas morning. It is also used to provide a nice holiday meal for such families in need.
There is an old saying that every time you hear a bell ring, an angel gets its wings. This was a line made famous in the movie It’s a Wonderful life. Yet many people that hear bells during the Christmas season tend to focus on this. It gives them a wonderful feeling too. There is plenty of faith surrounding the holidays and this is just one instance of it.
Sleigh bells often indicate the arrival of Santa and his reindeer. They have a heavier sound that is very distinct in nature. Sometimes you will here this type of bell set up as a door bell for the holidays or played with a sensor as you enter a store. It is a very exciting sound that is often associated with the magic of Christmas time.
Many retailer's sale nice bells that are collector’s items for Christmas as well. They may have a nice sentiment on them. Many of them simply say the year of the Christmas. You can also get them personalized with a family name on them. These make nice display items for the holidays.
Since they seem to start the festivities for Christmas earlier and earlier each year, it is no wonder people are tired of the bells by the end of it all. This is a sad reality of the way in which commercialization continues to take over our various holidays. Try to focus on the good memories you have of the holiday though instead of letting these issues get to you personally.
