Teen Babysitting
Many teenagers get regular babysitting jobs during the summer months. They find this to be more convenient than giving up their Friday and Saturday nights in order to meet the needs of the parents. These are the two most common nights when people tend to go out for activities. There may be meetings or exercise classes in the middle of the week they wish to attend though.
If you decide to babysit, you need to be prepared for the many responsibilities that come with it. They will vary depending on the ages of the children and how long you will have them. Some parents feed the children and put them to bed before they go out. All you have to do is kick back and watch TV or talk on the phone until they return. For other babysitting jobs though you will need to give the children your full attention.
If you are interested in such work, you can find people easily. Have your parents advertise for you to their friends and co-workers. You can also ask your friends to share your information with people they often babysit for. This way they can use you as a back up. You should be careful about posting your information on bulletin boards and things though. You never know who will be contacting you or if it is safe.
Many parents encourage their teenagers to babysit as it instills a sense of responsibility in them. It can also teach them about how hard it can be to care for children. This can give them a new appreciation for their own parents. At the same time, it can help deter them from the fantasy that it is easy to take care of a baby. With so many teenage pregnancies occurring this is important information for them to learn firsthand.
