Used ATV’s
There are many reasons whey people end up selling ATV’s. Some people buy them as a new thrill but it doesn’t take long before the novelty of it wears of and they are bored with it. They may move on to something faster such as a dirty bike. Other people buy them and really enjoy using the ATV’s but their schedule simply doesn’t allow for it. I know a couple who bought two new ones and then discovered they were going to have a baby so they sold them.
ATV’s can be expensive to purchase outright but many people buy them on a payment plan. Circumstances can change though and along the way they may discover that monthly payment has become a dark cloud looming over them. They want to sell the ATV in order to free up that money for something else their family needs.
Before you commit to purchasing a used ATV you want to make sure the owner is legitimate. You don’t want to wake up to the cops knocking on your door to ask where you got it as it is stolen. You also want to make sure all of the parts of the used ATV are in decent shape. Nothing is worse then investing in a used ATV and then having it nickel and dime you to death for repair expenses.
It is important to inspect the under carriage of the used ATV. This will allow you to see any dents or damage that isn’t visible from the top due to the body of the ATV covering it. You also want to look for signs of rust while you are under there because that is never a good sign. Rust is going to continue spreading unless to invest a lot of money into it.
If this all looks good you will want to remove the seat in order to look for signs of water damage. This is likely to occur in the filters or the air box so make sure you look at both. The owner shouldn’t object to this type of inspection if they are offering you a good quality used ATV.
